VLOOKUP is a lookup and reference function in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. It allows the user to specify an array and look up information in a data range, name range, or row. This is often used when you need to carry over information from one spreadsheet to another based on a common field.
For example, you may have two spreadsheets in a workbook that include an employee ID. One sheet also has the employee’s name. With VLOOKUP, you could retrieve the employee name to use on the other spreadsheet.
