I’m chalking this up as an amusing annoyance. I can’t close Skype in my typical fashion with Windows 10. I called this amusing as Microsoft owns Skype so you’d think the two would work flawlessly. Not quite, but there is an easy workaround.
One of the new features I like is that the taskbar places a small bar under a taskbar application if it’s running. It makes it easier for me to find applications to close if needed. I tend to close programs when done. I rarely keep Skype open because it conflicts with another app I frequently use.
In the past, I would right-click the Skype icon and select Sign Out and then Quit Skype.
I tried doing this step several times and neither of those functions worked. Granted, I could sign out from within Skype, but I still couldn’t close the program.
I’m guessing this issue will get fixed. In the interim, here’s an easy solution using the Notification area.
- Click the ^ icon to show all the icons in your Notification area.
- Right-click the Skype icon.
- Select Quit from the menu
Maybe I need to bring back my annoyances category.
Update: On my system, this problem seems to be fixed.
