Beaming Business Cards
One of the advantages of a Palm® device is the ability to easily
beam information such as your business card to another user. Talk
to anyone after a trade show or conference and I'm sure they'll
agree. Palm made this function even easier by linking it to the
Address Book button.
To create your business card on the Palm,
1. Press the Address Book application button
at the bottom of your device.
2. Tap New at the bottom of the screen.
3. Add yourself into your contacts database. (Remember that
the entire record will transfer, so don't put any confidential data
in this record like bank account numbers etc.)
4. Tap the Menu silk-screen button
in the lower left corner.
5. From the Record menu, tap Select Business Card.
6. At the Select Business Card dialog, tap Yes.
At the top line of your contact record, you'll see a small Rolodex
icon in
the middle. This icon identifies the record as your business card.
7. Once you've created your business card, you simply point to
another Palm device while pressing the Address Book application
button. At first you'll see the Address Book open and then you'll
see "Preparing: <Your name>". The beam application
will automatically start and search for a receiving device.
Note: Beaming a business card will work even if you have turned
off beaming in Preferences.
